Admittedly, I'm not a Lawyer, however, I don't believe you need to be a Lawyer to realize that a vast number of "Privacy Policies" pertaining to websites and internet usage are nothing more that a declaration of how the issuing organization plans to spy on you. Generally the Privacy Policy states how the issuer will seach through files on your computer and gather information on your online behavior such as sites visited, purchases you have made, topics you have searched and who your are conversing with online. The spying is non stop and it is not limited just to your computer it can also extend to your cell phone and other electronic devices. The information obtained on you through these spying operations is then either used internally to build profiles on you, or sold to anyone who is willing to pay for it, or in some cases both. Don't believe me? Have you ever REALLY read one? Probably not. And who has? Who has time to read through pages and pages of confusing legalese? But here is what I find to be the scariest part, the vast majority of people will click on the "Accept" button with little or no understanding of what they are agreeing to. Ok, are you ready for some good news? NeighborHubConnect doesn't engage in any of those spying activites. None of them, period! It's just that simple, WE DO NOT SPY ON YOU! I know as a user of the internet myself, that is very important to me and I hope it is just as important to you. I truley believe that is one of the factors that sets NeighborHubConnect apart. That being said, below you will find the official NeighborHubConnect Privacy Policy. Please take a few minutes to read through it, it's not too long. It provides me with some degree of comfort knowing that NeighborHubConnect members have actually READ our Privacy Policy before they have clicked on the "Agree" button. Thanks and have a great day.
NEIGHBORHUBCONNECT PRIVACY POLICY
If this policy is to change NeighborHubConnect will attempt to notify all of it’s members at least 90 days in advance of any such change.
This policy is effective from January 1, 2013.
What information will I have to enter?
NeighborHubConnect requests the following information:• Street Address: For household accounts this is used as a means for other household members within the neighborhub to validate identity. You must enter your street address (not city, state or zip) when registering as a household. Neighborhub considers this a fraud prevention tool. If an outside party is attempting to gain access to a neighborhub by using your street address, this will help you identify them. This makes it very difficult for unauthorized users to enter your neighborhub. In addition there is an approval process that all households must go through (with the exception of the neighborhub originating household) in order to become members of a neighborhub. The street address helps existing neighborhub members identify who is requesting membership into their neighborhub. For neighborhubs, the street address along with the city, state and zip is used to establish an anchor address for the neighborhub. The anchor address is used for all neighborhub distance calculations.
• Email address: Email address is used to send members their passwords, this would include the initial password or any subsequent password reset requests. In addition members can choose to receive emails pertaining to various neighborhub notifications, such as messages, alerts and business specials. You decide if your email address is visible to other members within your neighborhub. You also choose which if any email notifications you are to receive. It is important to note that your email is never made available to any parties outside of Neighborhubconnect. For example a local business may wish to make a special offer to members of various neighborhubs. The local business selects the neighborhubs within the distribution and provides the offer details to NeighborHubConnect. NeighborHubConnect then emails the message to the member households, not the local business.
NeighborHub requests the following OPTIONAL information:
• Phone numbers: The listing of your home or non-cell phone number is optional and should only be entered if you wish to share this number with your fellow neighborhub households. The listing of a text capable cell phone is also optional, however if listed, you can choose to receive text messages for various NeighborHub notifications. As with the email notifications, you choose which if any, notifications you are to receive. Also, as with your email address, NeighborHubConnect does not distribute phone numbers to any party outside of neighborhub connect (see Email address above).
