About Us
NeighborHubConnect was conceived as a result of organizing our annual neighborhood block party and other neighborhood events. One of the challenges faced when organizing a neighborhood event was maintaining the Email Contact list since several email threads were in circulation. A request would be made to add a new Contact to an email list, however, there was no way to add the new Contact to all the existing email threads.
The initial goal was to solve the Contact Maintenance Issue.
As we thought about a solution to the Contact Maintenance Issue, we thought of additional Functionality and Features that would make the Application more useful, such as the addition of an Events Calendar. One thing led to another and before we knew it, we had taken on a much bigger vision.
This also meant that what we thought we were going to accomplish in a few weeks, would now take significantly longer.
As we worked on the Application, we realized that other neighborhoods may also find the site useful. This also meant that we would need to segment neighborhoods and users in order to provide adequate security.
We developed a user-friendly Neighborhood/Community focused website that is full of useful tools and resources.
Here is a list of some of the features:
• A Neighborhood Message Board
• A Neighborhood Alerts Page
• A Neighborhood Classifieds Page
• A Neighborhood Events Calendar
• A Member Review page (Restaurants, Services, Movies etc…)
• Important Contacts List
• A Local Business Directory
• A Local Business Specials Page
• A Member Acceptance/Declination Feature
• A Notification Selection Feature
• Household Profile Maintenance Feature
As you can see it ended up being much more than a glorified contact list. Anyway, in conclusion I hope you and your neighbors find it useful. Although it is still relatively new, I have already begun work on several future enhancements. You can let me know what you think by clicking on the “Contact Us” link in the page footer.
